Estevez gets Wood for Bobby
The former Brat Packer wrangles an all-star cast for his Robert F Kennedy assassination movie
What has Emilio Estevez, one of the ’80s biggest film stars (no, really), been up to lately? The question that’s kept everyone at Total Film from getting a good night’s kip has finally been answered…
Charlie Sheen’s older brother has been busy signing up big names for his movie Bobby, an Altmanesque tale focusing on the assassination of US Senator Robert F Kennedy. And Elijah Wood has snagged himself a key role, as he told Total Film recently at the Toronto Film Festival.
“It's about the day that Robert Kennedy was shot in 1968 and it all takes place at the Ambassador Hotel,” says the pint-sized actor. “It's about a cross-section of people from all walks of life, at that hotel on that day, all leading up to his speech and him being assassinated. I'll be playing a character who is getting married to a woman to avoid the draft.”
Having also lined up the heavyweight acting talents of Anthony Hopkins as the hotel doorman, not to mention the buxom presence of Demi Moore, Estevez starts filming Bobby at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles in October. We can all finally get a good night’s sleep…
