Will play a police captain in the Sliding Doors -like NBC series
Laura Innes, star of ER , The Event and Deep Impact , has joined the cast of new NBC series Awake , reports TVLine .
Set to premiere in early 2012, Awake stars Jason (Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter ) Isaacs as Michael Britten, a police detective who, after a car crash, wakes up to find himself in two realities – one in which his wife died in the crash, the other in which his teenage son (Dylan Minnette, Jack’s son in Lost ) died.
Innes will play Captain Tricia Harper, Michael’s boss. A former detective herself, she is described as smart and compassionate — especially when it comes to having concerns about the mourning Michael’s well-being. Some characters in the show will only feature in one “reality” (for example, 24 ’s Cherry Jones is Michael’s shrink in one, while SVU ’s BD Wong is the shrink in the other) and it’s not yet clear if Innes’s character will be in both realities or just one.
