That's no console screen - it's a real-timescreenshot of one of the most intense-looking iPhone games to date. It's Infinity Blade from Epic Games, the developer behind Unreal Tournament and Gears of War.
Epic first showed off the game at an Apple media event earlier this fall, but at the time it was presented as an unnamed tech demo. The product is now a real, full game that could very well be the most visually stunning and technologically impressive iPhone game to date.
That's not just based on a single screenshot. There are facts to back this up. Infinity Blade, which is being developed byEpic subsidiaryChair Entertainment, will be the first iPhone game to use Unreal Engine 3.
"Chair has created an amazing looking, incredibly fun game that really demonstrates the potential of triple-A mobile gaming," said Epic Games president Dr. Michael Capps in a statement.
There's no word on when Infinity Blade will be available, or how much it will cost. As the development progresses, though, this will certainly be one of the most closely-watched and hyped mobile games of all time, along with id's Rage mobile game.
Gamers who are curious about this "epic" game can download the same tech demo that was shown at the Apple event. It's called Epic Citadel and is a free app on the App Store.
