The lowdown on the San Diego Comic-Con 2024 schedule
The San Diego Comic-Con 2024 schedule was packed with goodies, with major panels on everything from Doctor Who to the MCU.
Deadpool and Wolverine, Transformers, and The Rings of Power season 2 also all got blowout panels, which included a surprise Deadpool 3 screening with the cast in attendance and a brand new trailer about resisting darkness in Middle-earth.

When is San Diego Comic-Con 2024?
This year, the San Diego Comic-Con dates are from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28. There is also a preview day on Wednesday, July 24. The whole event lasts five days and takes place at the San Diego Convention Center.

Thursday, July 25
The first day of SDCC 2024 saw the first trailer drop for Transformers One, featuring Optimus Prime and Megatron, while the movie's producer told 12DOVE that there are already plans for a sequel.
Meanwhile, the Deadpool and Wolverine panel saw appearances from stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, as well as a bunch of the movie's cameo actors. "If there's still any question about the importance of experiencing something with a crowd, that just changed everything," Feige told Hall H. "That was astounding and the best movie experience of my life."

We also learned that the BioShock movie will be a "much smaller version" than originally planned after Netflix "lowered the budgets", there's already a "badass" first draft of Todd McFarlane’s R-rated Spawn movie, and James Wan is producing Teacup, a new horror show inspired by Robert McCammon’s Stinger.
Plus, there was a glimpse at the opening titles for the new Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Friday, July 26
The second day of SDCC 2024 kicked off with a bang at The Boys panel in Hall H. Pretty much the whole of the cast was there from Antony Starr (Homelander) to Hughie’s Jack Quaid. But it wasn't all reunions, as the team announced a brand new Boys spin-off starring Stormfront and Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles, who was also in attendance) and we got to see the first trailer for Gen V season 2.
Then, we took a trip to Middle Earth as the cast and crew of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power took to the stage. We got to see a brand new Sauron-focused trailer for season 2, which showrunners said is "about entering the nuclear age."
Back in Hall H the Doctor Who panel commenced with showrunner Russell T Davies and stars Ncuti Gatwa, and Millie Gibson. We got a first look at this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special featuring Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan, and a brand new spin-off was announced titled The War Between Land and Sea.
Then things turned apocalyptic as The Walking Dead: Dead City panel kicked off. Stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and (Negan) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie) were there, and we got to see the first teaser for season 2. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol panel was next, with stars Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol) there talking more about their characters possible romantic relationship in season 2, plus it was announced that the show has been renewed for a third season.
Lastly, the Alien: Romulus panel saw a facehugger attack an actor on stage, plus Alien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez ranked his favorite Alien movies, with Ridley Scott’s original movie raking first place. Oh, and the Dexter: Original Sin team announced a new Dexter spin-off titled Dexter: resurrection with star Michael C. Hall returning to play the titular character. Phew, what a day.

Saturday, July 27
Saturday brought huge updates on DC, Marvel, and beyond. Firstly, in the Stark Trek realm, we got a first trailer for Lower Decks season 5 as well as a trailer for a Discovery spin-off movie starring Michelle Yeoh.
Then, Silo season 2 got a November release date as well as an exciting casting reveal: The White Lotus's Steve Zahn is joining the line-up. After that, we headed to Gotham for the lowdown on the upcoming Batman spin-off The Penguin. It got a brand new teaser and a September release date.
And then, it was time for the big one: the Marvel Hall H panel. As expected, it was jam-packed with reveals. The biggest of the night is certainly that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU, though not as Tony Stark. He's instead back as new big bad Doctor Doom. Plus, it was revealed that the casts of Fantastic Four (Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Thunderbolts* (Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and more) would be part of the next two Avengers films Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Speaking of Fantastic Four, that movie finally got an official title: First Steps. That suggests Marvel's First Family is around for the long haul. The first footage from Thunderbolts* was also screened behind closed doors. Giancarlo Esposito also finally revealed his Captain America 4 villain: Seth Voelker, AKA Sidewinder, the King of the Serpent Society.
And, finally, a new trailer for Hellboy: The Crooked Man was unveiled, which featured... a demonic raccoon?

San Diego Comic-Con 2024 tickets: How can I watch SDCC 2024?
San Diego Comic-Con 2024 was not streamed at home. The convention did have a few years during the pandemic when it was possible to watch it from wherever you were, but that wasn't the case this year.
This means if you wanted to watch the panels, you had to physically attend the event. San Diego Comic-Con 2024 tickets sold out.
