We venture forth into the real-life exclusion zone
After leaving the reactor site, we toured the abandoned city of Pripyat. In sight of the reactor, Pripyat was once a model city. Today it is in ruins. The old buildings still stand, but the insides have been stripped bare by the tides of time and opportunistic looters.
At the center of town is the fair -- long ago abandoned, but a reminder that happy children once played here. A dilapidated Ferris Wheel stands proudly at the edge of the fair, as it if has valiantly weathered the storm.
