The creators of Max Payne may not own the rights to him anymore, but that doesn't mean they can't make a game with some slow-mo fun at its core. Developer Remedy has a new trailer for its upcoming game Quantum Break, and I have to say, it makes me think of what the studio's classic third-person shooter would look like if it were made today instead of the angsty, black leather-wearing early '00s.
Take a look and see if you agree:
See? Guy with time manipulation powers goes off on a quest for vengeance, diving through the air to punch and/or shoot people? Of course, Quantum Break hero Jack has far more abilities at his disposal than Max ever did, as evidenced by him completely stopping bullets mid-air and speeding time up to run super-fast. Now if only actor Shawn Ashmore could pull off the Max Payne face.
On a completely separate note, what is it with classic song covers in video game trailers lately? As if Dark Souls 3 giving us Cyndi Lauper by way of gothic horror wasn't enough, now we've got this slow, moody rock ballad version of Nirvana's "Come As You Are" for Quantum Break.
We'll find out if Quantum Break is Remedy's next masterpiece or just another cover-heavy shooter on April 5.
