Ms Emily Blunt doesn’t have much luck with comic book movie adaptations.
First she missed out on playing Black Widow in Iron Man 2 when Fox actioned a sneaky contract clause to get her to star in Gulliver’s Travels instead.
Now she’s turned down the chance to play love interest Peggy Carter in Marvel’s The First Avenger: Captain America .
She was one of three British actresses being considered for the role, with Keira Knightley and Alice Eve both in the running alongside her.
But after Marvel made her an offer, the actress officially passed on the opportunity. Is it because she wasn’t offered enough? Or was she just not interested in playing second fiddle to a man again?
Either way, it doesn’t look like Ms Blunt will be screaming for her life in a superhero flick any time soon. Hero Complex state that Blunt is merely “close to signing on to other projects”, yet to be announced.
Blunt last appeared on the big screen in big flop The Wolfman , and will next appear alongside Matt Damon in romantic sci-fi The Adjustment Bureau .
In related Hollywood "no thank you" news, Will Smith has reportedly turned down an offer by director Cameron Crowe to play Marvin Gaye. No reason has been given, though we're assuming Mr Smith is busy battling sequel rumours, as whispers of both Independence Day and Men In Black follow-ups are putting demands on his time.
Director Crowe isn't disheartened, though, insisting that he'll take his time getting the biopic right...
"It’s all about getting the contact high in a movie theatre that you can get from music," he says. "A record can change your life. Somebody poured their life into that little piece of music. To me, that’s a hero."
