Emile Hirsch starring in Killer Joe
Heads up dark comedy for William Friedkin
Emile Hirsch and romcom king Matthew McConaughey are set to star in a new black comedy entitled Killer Joe .
Which makes us think that McConaughey - who has spent the past couple of years surrendering himself to a string of throwaway romcoms despite gritty turns in Reign Of Fire and A Time To Kill - caught Kate Hudson’s performance in The Killer Inside Me and fancied something a bit meatier himself.
The flick, which will commence filming in New Orleans this November, follows Hirsch’s everyman, who plots with his sister to kill their mother for the insurance money.
To carry out the murder, they hire cop and contract killer Cooper (McConaughey), who’s nicknamed ‘Killer Joe’ (we assume he appreciates a good cup of coffee).
Further reason to get excited? It’s being directed by none other than William Friedkin ( The Exorcist, The French Connection) . Comebacks all round? We just found another movie to add to our list of future Must Sees…
