Elijah Wood Could Return As Frodo For The Hobbit
None
And TheOneRing.net has the scoop on how it could happen, if you’re thinking, “Huh, but how…?”
Okay, there have already been stories and rumours of other characters who don’t appear in Tolkein’s book The Hobbit who are appearing in films – Radogast The Brown and Legolas, primarily – but you can see how they might be included without much rewriting of the author’s larger history of Middle-earth. But Frodo? Played by Wood? Wouldn’t that require time travel?
But TheOneRing.net , without doubt the most respected Lord Of The Rings site on the net, and not in the habit of making stories up, seems pretty certain that Wood will be returning (the site says it has known for a while but sat on the info until rumours started circulating), and has the scoop on how: he’ll be used as part of a framing device that will introduce the story of The Hobbit . Not quite Frodo sitting on Bilbo’s knee as the elder Hobbit relates tales of youth by the fireside, but not far off.
According to TheOneRing.net : “As readers of The Hobbit know, the tale of The Downfall Of The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit, Or There And Back Again , are contained in the fictional Red Book of Westmarch . In Peter Jackson’s LOTR films, the books are shown on screen and written in by Bilbo and Frodo and handed off to Sam Gamgee.
“The fictional book, and either the telling from it or the reading of it, will establish Frodo in the films experiencing Bilbo’s story. TheOneRing can confirm that as of now, the plans are to feature Frodo in the opening sequence of the films.”
