Edgar Wright working on a steampunk Oliver Twist sequel
After his shock departure from Marvel's Ant-Man, Edgar Wright has wasted no time putting his time to good use on other projects.
One of those projects is reportedly an action-packed steampunk sequel to Oliver Twist called Dodge & Twist.
According to Film Divider, Wright recently submitted a new version of the script, apparently starting fresh after putting aside Cole Haddon's original screenplay.
Set 20 years after Oliver Twist, Dodge & Twist catches up with the titular orphan, who's now a police officer. Oliver ends up on the trail of the Artful Dodger, who's on a mission to steal the Crown Jewels. But can Oliver stop him?
The idea was dreamed up by Ahmet Zappa (The Odd Life of Timothy Green), and despite the script sharing a title with Tony Lee's book, it's not a true adaptation.
With Eddie Redmayne rumoured to be a favourite for the role of Oliver, the search is also on for who'll play an “ass-kicking” version of Queen Victoria (our money's on Helena Bonham Carter). Yes, this sounds mental in the best way possible.
On top of Dodge & Twist, Wright is also set to direct petrol-headed chase film Baby Driver and sci-fi book adap Grasshopper Jungle.
