Edgar Ramirez to replace Gerard Butler in Point Break
In talks to take over role of Bodhi
The Point Break remake looks set to steady the ship after the recent departure of Gerard Butler, with Edgar Ramirez reportedly in talks to join the project.
According to Variety , Ramirez is currently in talks with Alcon over the role of Bodhi, a part first played by Patrick Swayze in the original, and recently vacated by Butler.
Butler was forced to leave the film due to a scheduling conflict, although Ray Winstone was recently added to the cast as Gary Busey's old character, Agent Pappas.
The new film will retread the original's plot of an FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring, although this time, the villains will be extreme sports enthusiasts as opposed to straightforward surfers.
Directed by Ericson Core and co-starring Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah, Point Break will open in the US on 7 August 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed.
