Eddie Redmayne in talks to play Wizard of Oz creator L. Frank Baum
Since being announced last year, the Frank L. Baum biopic went into hibernation with no word on its development until today. According to a new report from The Tracking Board, Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne is in contention to play the prolific author in Road To Oz.
The drama is touted to chronicle the early days of the Oz author before his meteoric rise to fame. New Line Cinema and Flynn Picture Company are joining forces to co-produce the film based on a script by Josh Golden, who earned prestige in a series of screenwriting contests.
Though currently unconfirmed by Redmayne's camp, this type of role is definitely in the actor's wheelhouse. Since bagging his statuette for The Theory of Everything he's completed work on The Danish Girl as Lili Elbe, the first person to ever undergo sexual reassignment surgery. He's next signed up to star as Newt Scamander in Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.
