EA has published what’s likely to be the first image of a next-gen entry in the Need for Speed series. The teaser screenshot, showing off a Koenigseggon police cruiser, was posted on the publisher’s Australian Facebook page alongside the text: "Have no rules, show no mercy."
EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said last night that the publisher intends to show off a next-gen Need for Speed game at E3 next month. “Our E3 briefing ‘The Download: EA 2013 Preview’ will be a showcase of next-generation games like Battlefield 4, Need For Speed, a full range of EA Sports games and a first look at our plans for the Star Wars partnership with Disney,” he wrote on EA’s site.
At Microsoft’s Xbox One reveal event last night, EA confirmed a Battlefield 4 release date of October 29 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, while also announcing next-gen console versions of the shooter. EA Sports also took the wraps off its new Ignite engine, which will power the company’s next-gen sports titles.
