EA announces Need for Speed: The Run

EA has announced that the next Need for Speed game, dubbed Need for Speed: The Run, will release on November 15 in North America, and November 17 in Europe. The game will be powered by DICE's Frostbite 2 engine - the same being used for Battlefield 3 - and is being developed by Black Box, which is responsible formany NFS games, as well as the Skate series.

Watch the teaser below for a brief taste of what EA calls "a heart-pounding cross-country race from San Francisco to New York."

"Need for Speed The Run lures players into an underground world of illicit, high-stakes racing," reads today's press release. "The heat is on %26ndash; and it isn%26rsquo;t just the fuzz who are after you. Entering the race is just the beginning as you blow across borders, weave through dense urban traffic, rocket down icy mountain passes and navigate narrow canyons at breakneck speeds."

The game will apparently feature "cutting edge performances" which will "draw the player into a world with no speed limits, rules or allies," and will also include an updated version of Autolog, the social tool introduced in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Excited?
