E3 07: New NFS Pro Street video
Need for Speed vid gets technical
Need For Speed: ProStreet is a real leap for the long-running series. Not only does it take place on race tracks (not streets), in the harsh light of day (not of neon-riven night), but it's now aiming for realism too as this new video shows.
While the data taken by the team will no doubt be accurate, it's telling that Jacques Kerner, physics lead on the game, mentions the handling will be "forgiving." So while the cars will hint at realistic understeer or oversteer, you're unlikely to find yourself off the road at the first corner a laForza Motorsport 2. At least not if you've used your thumbs before.
This is definitely a game to watch. An arcadey, forgiving-yet-serious racing sim will make for a refreshing experience, as we always seem to have racers from one camp or the other.
