E3 07: Game of the show

Wednesday 11 July 2007
There's one game that excites us more than any other at this year's E3. And, perhaps surprisingly, that game is Burnout Paradise, the open-world chassis-busting racer from excite-o-maestro developer Criterion. This fresh footage should have you feeling the same way.

See, while we love finally seeing Killzone 2 in action, or getting our hands dirty with Mercenaries 2, nothing quite gets us panting like Burnout does. It must be something about the no-holds-barred crashes. The utterly exhilerating speed. Or perhaps the mouth-wateringly detailed, vicious damage inflicted on the game's steel steeds.

Just watch this trailer for one of the week's most impressive clips - a car crumpling like a paper bag as it careers headlong into a concrete pillar. E3 still holds more videogame marvels for us to see. But they'llhave tobe something super special to takeourhearts from Burnout'sParadise.

Above: Watch closely in the barrel-roll moments for when the carevens itself out- we're guessing a new setup enables you to control the spin of your vehicle
