Microsoft Japan's great white hope for Xbox – equally desired on this side of the Atlantic by ex-Phantasy Star Online players – was Level 5's massively multiplayer online RPG. Its charismatic cel-shaded visuals and expansive list of professions kept fans holding their breath through three long delays; when the game was finally cancelled, some Japanese Xbox owners sent their machines back to Microsoft in disgust, claiming there was no longer a reason to own one.
Comeback chance?
With much of the game's structure built, the hardest-dying of the diehard fans hoped for a resurrection on 360 – but Level 5 recently stated that TFLO's cancellation was final.
