Dredd gets a badass new poster

Dredd has released a brand new poster ahead of its release later in the year, and we have to admit, it’s one of the best one-sheets we’ve seen in quite some time.

Featuring Karl Urban’s futuristic law-enforcer shrouded in darkness, all the traditional Judge Dredd visual cues are present and correct, from the helmet to the badge to a big old gun, while the prevailing gloom lends an air of real menace to proceedings.

“Judgment is coming” snarls the ominous tagline, a slogan indicative of director Pete Travis’s intention to take the story back to the gritty, blood-stained roots of the comic-books, in contrast with the cartoonish Sly Stallone version.

Dredd will see the Judge clashing with terrorist leader Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), when her cell floods Mega-City One with the reality-altering drug Slo-Mo. He’ll be ably assisted by Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities courtesy of a genetic mutation in her brain.

Dredd will open in the UK on 7 September 2012. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes upon the stylish new poster, below...
