Dragon still riding high
Kick-Ass takes another kicking...
Having suffered an underwhelming opening weekend of just under $20 million, Matthew Vaughan’s Kick-Ass took a further hit second time around, claiming just $9.5 million across 3,065 screens.
With the anticipated word-of-mouth bounce failing to materialise, it’s a 52% drop for the comic-book caper, a result that leaves the film languishing at a disappointing fifth in the box office.
Meanwhile the How To Train Your Dragon success story rolls on apace, with the Dreamworks smash scooping around $15 million to reclaim top spot in its fifth weekend of release.
Fairly slow business this week then, with new releases failing to break the $13 million barrier. Expect that to change next week when Freddy gets his claws on the box office, as Nightmare On Elm Street makes its bow.
Will Nightmare take top-spot next week? Speculate away!
