Doug Liman set to direct Splinter Cell
Set to team up with leading man Tom Hardy
Ubisoft looks to have found a director for its Splinter Cell adaptation, with Heat Vision reporting that Doug Liman is in final negotiations to join the project.
The film has been floundering around in development hell for several years now, with Peter Berg previously attached to direct before eventually growing frustrated and jumping ship.
With Eric Singer currently working on a script, the film will follow the exploits of a covert operative named Sam Fisher, the star of the popular videogame series upon which the story is based.
Tom Hardy has already signed on to play Fisher, and Liman’s arrival should help push this one forward, with the studio aiming for a 2015 release date.
With Edge Of Tomorrow garnering considerable buzz, it looks as though Liman is on a bit of an action roll. Could this be a rare example of a videogame adaptation that doesn’t suck? Let’s hope so…
