Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill say Man of Steel 2 is still a possibility

Although the events in Man of Steel have a big impact in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, technically it's not a sequel to Snyder's 2013 Superman reboot. DC's slate includes solo films for Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and more, but Man of Steel 2 is not on the docket. Will we be getting another standalone Superman film any time soon?

"I do believe it depends on the success of this movie", Henry Cavill told IGN. "If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. for a standalone Superman movie. But they've got their plans set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies, so it's about finding the time, really. It's something that I would be very keen to do." Check out the video below...

At this point, I'd be very surprised if we get a Man of Steel 2 announcement within the next few years. The time to do a standalone sequel was before Batman v Superman, and with a host of characters who have yet to be introduced to audiences it's a safe bet that the most we'll see of Cavill's hero going forward will be in Justice League.

With that said, Cavill did tease that there was a chance he'd be showing up in the standalone Wonder Woman film, so we might not have to wait until DC's big team-up movie to see Metropolis' hero back in action. Watch this space...

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is in cinemas now.
