Does No Man's Sky need a VR update? Hello Games is asking

Polo in the No Man's Sky Space Anomaly

Space simulation No Man's Sky has been through some monumental changes since it was released in August 2016, and now developer Hello Games is asking fans what they want to see next. In a new player survey, the studio asked if VR support is a feature people want to see in the game.

While VR hasn't exactly blown up in the mainstream gaming community yet, it makes sense for No Man's Sky, a game that's so focused on immersive exploration. Back in 2015 Hello Games' Sean Murray told this very website that he thought VR would be a good fit too.

"I don't know what I'm allowed to say, it's something we're thinking about. Morpheus [Playstation VR], Oculus... There's nothing more cool and sci-fi than VR and a big procedural universe. I think that, for the people who want to just explore, and even for the space combat and things like that, it would be a good fit. Let's put it that way."

It's been a few years since then, but it suggests Hello Games has been playing with the idea for a while.

Of course, some intrepid gamers have already figured out a way to make No Man's Sky work in VR using an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset and a 'VR injection driver' called VorpX. YouTuber Hoopermation VR shared his experience playing the game in VR, and the trusty Vive Reddit followed up with a step-by-step guide. Be warned though, unless you have a stomach of steel you might want to move that real fancy rug away from your PC before trying it out.
