Doctor Strange gets an official release date
Film likely to shoot in the UK
Marvel has finally confirmed an official release date for Doctor Strange , with the film set to arrive in the summer of 2016.
The film will officially open in US cinemas on 8 July 2016, with a UK date to be confirmed amid rumours that the shoot is set to take place on these shores.
According to Screen Daily , Marvel is currently in “advanced negotiations” with Pinewood-Shepperton studios, with a view to beginning filming the project in late 2014 / early 2015.
The film will follow the adventures of the titular doctor, a former neurosurgeon who becomes a wildly powerful sorcerer, having been forced to abandon his career after a crippling car accident.
The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson, and while no official casting has been made as yet, Joaquin Phoenix, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jack Huston have all been linked to the title role in recent weeks.
