Dobkin bails on Chuck And Larry
‘Creative differences’ as Wedding Crashers scribbler walks out on Sandler and co.
It was all sounding so perfect…
Adam Sandler and Hitch gagslinger Kevin James team up for a side-splitter about two straight firefighters posing as a gay married couple to swindle the insurance bods.
As we told you a couple of weeks back, the script for I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry had been hitting Hollywood doormats for years and then recently it received a makeover from Sideways scribblers Alexander Payne and James Taylor – prompting a new round of casting from Universal and the hiring of Wedding Crashers helmer, David Dobkin.
Trade sources suggest however, that Dobkin dropped out yesterday, after citing huge creative differences – Universal say Dobkin simply passed on the project.
The hunt is now on to install a replacement director - the studio remain confident of keeping everything in place for an August shoot.
