DLC maps for Killzone Shadow Fall will be free

Unlike most console FPS games, PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall won’t charge users for post-launch maps released as DLC, Guerrilla Games has confirmed as part of a multiplayer reveal which you can see in action in the video above.

Guerrilla community editor Victor Zuylen has also detailed the shooter’s multiplayer component in a post on the Killzone site. "Using the new customizable Warzone features demonstrated in the trailer, you can pick the number of players (4-24), rules, mission modes, classes, abilities and weapons you want to allow in a match, then save these choices as a preset to share with the rest of the Shadow Fall community," he said.

"We've worked hard to make sure Killzone Shadow Fall will be a fun, competitive multiplayer experience that's easy to get into, but difficult to master," Zuylen added. "There are now eight different rotating mission modes, four of which are new to Killzone Shadow Fall."

The game features 22 weapons all unlocked from the start, allowing players to build specialised classes from the get-go. Equipment can be augmented and skills upgraded by completing over 1,500 skill-based actions, from headshots to destroying enemy gear.

Shadow Fall will initially ship with ten multiplayer maps but more will be added for free after release, Zuylen said. "We plan to continue support for the title well after launch - and yes, DLC multiplayer maps will be released free of charge to ensure everyone can play.”

The game will be released alongside PS4 when the console launches in the US on November 15 and in Europe two weeks later.
