The Division cheaters will have a tougher time after beta, Ubi says
Ubisoft plans to crack down hard on cheating in The Division once the full game ships out on March 8. A Ubisoft community manager wrote on the game's official forum that the team is aware of the exploitable glitches and cheats that curious and/or nefarious players discovered over the course of the closed beta, and that it will have a system in place to make sure they don't run rampant.
The statement was specifically in reference to The Division's PC version, which was hit particularly hard by players who abused client-server syncing issues to get unlimited ammo or better critical chances. But you could still become invisible and invincible on the console versions, even if it was by accident.
"We are aware of the cheating issues in the Closed Beta on PC," the community manager wrote. "The team is fully committed to providing solutions against this and a system will be in place to ensure a fair experience for players when the game is released on March 8."
That system could refer to an additional anti-cheating mechanism, like Valve Anti-Cheat on Steam, or maybe some kind of reporting option to deal with cheaters after the fact. Though PC versions of online games are often more prone to cheating, that attention to cleaning up exploits should trickle down to the console versions as well.
Whatever Ubisoft's cheating solution is, it probably won't be ready in time for the rumored open beta starting on February 16. Gird yourself for at least a few more days of extra-lawless Dark Zone, and stock up on The Division beta to get by on the up-and-up.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
