Ubisoft has announced plans to release Tom Clancy's The Division on PC, in addition to the previously confirmed Xbox One and PS4 versions.
Ubisoft Massive Entertainment executive producer Fredrik Rundqvist notes in the video above that the studio has been following community demand for a PC version of the action RPG. "I'm very pleased to announce [The Division] will be available on PC," he says. "Massive Entertainment has its roots in PC development with titles like Ground Control and World in Conflict; you can be certain we will provide you with a first rate PC experience."
During Microsoft's pre-Gamescom press briefing today, it was also announced that exclusive content for The Division will be available on Xbox One “before and after” the game's release, suggesting there may be a multiplayer beta as well as post-launch DLC. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said that The Division release date will fall "closer to the end of 2014 than the beginning".
The Division is set in New York three weeks after a lethal manmade virus has brought the city to its knees. Players take on the role of agents from The Division, a classified unit trained to operate independently of command and battle to prevent the collapse of society. With amazing visuals, a massive open-world and dynamic PVP, we came away highly impressed after seeing the title in June.
