Dissidia Final Fantasy NT announced for PS4, and… look, you really need to watch the trailer

Final Fantasy is no stranger to spin-offs. Even so, the Dissidia series is a unique bunch, turning the JRPG franchise into stylish, over-the-top fighting games. It all started with Dissidia Final Fantasy for the PSP in 2009, and now Square Enix is back with Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, coming to PS4 in early 2018.

NT is based on the reboot of the first game that came to arcades in 2015. Instead of the 1v1 fights of the first two games, NT is a more open 3v3 brawler. The arcade version currently has 23 characters, and has steadily been adding to its roster since its release. The PS4 version will likewise feature more than 20 of the long-running series' most iconic heroes and villains, including Cloud, Sephiroth, Tidus, and Kefka, though plans for DLC characters were not revealed.

But really, all you need to know is this game lets you kick a blitzball into Cloud's face.

Speaking of Cloud, Square Enix is currently hiring for development of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Think you've got the stuff to help bring a classic back?
