Disney's Frozen becomes biggest animated movie of all time
Leaves Toy Story 3 out in the cold
Disney phenomenon Frozen has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, toppling previous record-holder Toy Story 3 .
Frozen ’s worldwide gross currently stands at $1.072 billion, earning it a place on the top 10 films of all time, just behind The Dark Knight Rises ($1.084bn).
Toy Story 3 (2010), which had held the animation crown with $1.063bn, now sits at number 12 on the highest-grossers list.
Impressively, Frozen is the only movie in the all-time top 10 that isn’t a sequel or directed by James Cameron.
Its record-busting gross is only the latest big number the tale of two sisters has recently racked up.
Stateside, it shifted more than 3.2 million units on its first day of release on Blu-ray/DVD, while Oscar-winning showstopper ‘Let It Go’ has notched up 2.6 million sales.
And with a Broadway adap on the cards, the revenue stream isn’t about to ice up any time soon…
