Disney planning at least three Star Wars spin-offs
Films will be released between Episodes 7, 8 and 9
Disney is planning to release "at least three" Star Wars spin-offs over the next ten years, according to comments made by CEO Bob Iger.
Variety reported Iger's comments, taken from a quarterly earning stockholders call, in which the CEO confirmed that the films would be released in addition to Episodes 7, 8 and 9 over the coming decade.
Disney has previously stated an intention to release a Star Wars film every year, which would suggest that we can expect the first spin-off to arrive in 2016, following the release of Episode VII .
Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg have been working on story ideas for the spin-offs for the best part of a year, but while rumours have suggested either Boba Fett or a young Han Solo as possible subjects, no official plans have been confirmed as yet.
Just how far those projects are down the track remains to be seen, but with Episode VII set to open on 18 December 2015, we may not have too long to wait before finding out…
