Disney hire writer for Pirates 5
Terry Rossio to pen fifth adventure
Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 opens this May, but Disney are so confident it’ll be a success that they’ve hired Shrek scribe Terry Rossio to begin writing a fifth film.
Rossio has penned all four of the Pirates films thus far with writing partner Ted Elliot, though it appears that he’ll be walking the plank alone with the as-yet-untitled Pirates 5.
Meanwhile, the studio are also hoping to lure back On Stranger Tides helmer Rob Marshall for the fifth outing, alongside (naturally) Johnny Depp.
Depp himself has already shown interest in a fifth film, telling EW : "As long as we can put all the puzzle pieces together, I would most definitely consider it."
Still, is this Disney feeling confident after having seen Jack’s fourth adventure? Or are they panicking now that that they no longer have a sure-fire franchise on the books? ( Tron: Legacy didn’t make as much money as they’d hoped, while they let go of Narnia ’s last outing.)
We’ll find out when Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens in 3D on 20 May.
