It's with sadness we report that director Blake Edwards has passed away.
He died in California yesterday, following complications from pneumonia. He was 88.
Edwards will be best remembered for his comedy output, notably A Shot in the Dark and other Pink Panther movies with Peter Sellers.
He also helmed acclaimed drama Day of Wine and Roses , and directed Audrey Hepburn in her most iconic role in Breakfast at Tiffany's .
Edwards is survived by his second wife, Julie Andrews. The couple were married in 1969, and Andrews starred in four of Edwards' movies: Darling Lili , 10 , Victor Victoria and S.O.B.
When Edwards collected his honorary Oscar in 2004, he proved that he could still make them laugh, not letting his wheelchair get in the way of the opportunity for some slapstick.
He was apparently working on a Broadway musical version of The Pink Panther at the time of his death.
