Did Rockstar hold GTA IV from Sony at E3?
Sony says it asked for the footage but didn't hear anything back
Microsoft danced a jig at its E3 press conference last week while showing the latest GTA IV trailer on a giant screen and touting its exclusive downloadable content heading to Xbox 360 - but it was all quiet on the Sony front.
Yep, there was nary a peep of the latest Grand Theft Auto title at Sony's press conference, and it turns out that this was because Rockstar never sent any footage, according to David Karraker, senior director of corporate communications at SCEA.
"I'll give you the real answer. They didn't send us their video," Karrakersaid when asked why GTA IV on PS3 was a no show. "We requested it," he explained. "We sent an email out to every publisher and said send us your videos that you want put in the press conference, and they never sent it."
Karraker added, "Not much more you can say about that."
Rockstar was unable to comment on the missing video when contacted.
SCEA CEO and President Jack Tretton, also present at the interview, explained that Sony is working closely with Rockstar "on a number of initiatives" when queried whether the company is pursuing exclusive content for GTA IV on PS3. But he didn't provide further details.
