This Diablo 4 guide has loads of tips and tricks on all things Diablo, from the basics, such as salvaging gear and fast travel, to thorough class build guides and PvP. With so many overlapping mechanics and systems, seemingly infinite build possibilities, and lots of numbers, Diablo 4 is pretty complicated and can be a bit overwhelming at times. However, our Diablo 4 guides are here to help you make sense of it all as you battle your way across Sanctuary whether you’re a veteran demon hunter or a novice.
Diablo 4 review
In the 12DOVE Diablo 4 review, we gave it five stars and said that "Diablo 4 is a diabolical assault on the senses" – praising the sharp refinements to combat, gear, and loot systems, and the expressive open world that Blizzard has engineered with smart MMO sensibilities.
Diablo 4 release date, platforms, and Game Pass
Diablo 4 is playable now for early access players that pre-ordered the game, but the full release is on June 6. Make sure you keep up with the Diablo 4 launch times to find out when exactly you can play. If you're having trouble trying to find your Diablo 4 pre-order bonuses, we can help point you in the right direction.
You can play Diablo 4 on PC, Xbox Series X, PS5, Xbox One, and PS4. It's worth pointing out that Blizzard has said that there are "no plans" for a Diablo 4 Game Pass release. With the Xbox Activision Blizzard deal still ongoing, it's unlikely that this will change anytime soon. If the acquisition ever closes, there's a good chance that Diablo 4 will quickly make it onto the Xbox Game Pass list.
Diablo 4 tips
We’ve laid out 11 Diablo 4 tips to help you get started with the game. If you’re new to Diablo, you’ll definitely want to start here to make sure you’re making the most out of your gear and know how to efficiently play through the game. However, even seasoned players will benefit as some of the tips will help you learn how to get some of the most useful items, such as healing potions.
How long is Diablo 4?
Diablo 4 has a pretty long, 20+-hour main story that isn’t easy to power through, and it can take an incredibly long time to complete the game if you get side-tracked with perfecting your build, gathering loot, taking on dungeons, and completing sidequests. If you’re wondering “how long does it take to beat Diablo 4?” we can give you a rough idea with our guide.
Diablo 4 character classes and build guides
There are five classes to choose from in Diablo 4, all of which are quite different from each other. They also all feature a vast array of Skills which allows for plenty of variation even within the same class! Make sure you check out the class guides below to get a feel for each one and learn about some useful builds.
- Diablo 4 Barbarian builds
- Diablo 4 Druid builds
- Diablo 4 Necromancer builds
- Diablo 4 Rogue builds
- Diablo 4 Sorcerer builds
If you don’t like the Skills you’ve chosen, learn how to respec in Diablo 4 and you can reallocate your Skill Points. You’ll also want to know about how to swap Diablo 4 weapons, particularly if you’re a Barbarian player – you can obviously swap your weapons out freely when you find improvements, but actually swapping the weapons in your hands isn’t something you can do. Finally if you’re trying out the Necromancer class with all its minions, you should learn how to summon the Diablo 4 golem too.
Diablo 4 XP, difficulty, and endgame
To get access to the Skills for your class, you’ll need to earn a lot of XP, so here’s how you can level up fast in Diablo 4. One of the best ways to help you level up a bit faster is to change to one of the higher Diablo 4 World Tiers since they offer better XP rewards.
All this will help you along the way to the Diablo 4 max level of 50, but beyond that you’ve got to switch over to the Paragon system. Beyond Level 50, you’ll start earning Paragon Points instead of Skill Points to that can be spent on the Diablo 4 Paragon Board to unlock even more enhancements for your Skills. Get far enough through the board and you’ll need to content with Diablo 4 Glyphs too. Endgame levelling can be quite confusing so make sure you read through those guides to get acquainted with the Paragon system.
Aspects and gems for your gear
As you level up and start getting a feel for you desired build, you’ll want to bolster your power with Diablo 4 Aspects. These powerful perks can be applied to Legendary gear to add great passive bonuses or enhance existing Skills you’ve unlocked. Learn all about them in this guide and check out the class build guides above where we’ve also included lists of useful Aspects for each class.
As if Skills, and Aspects weren’t enough, you can apply Diablo 4 Gems to your armor, weapons, and jewelry to get even more bonuses, including extra Skill damage, increased maximum health, and superior elemental resistances. Get up to speed on all the gem types, what they do, and how you can craft improved ones.
Diablo 4 map
The Diablo 4 map of Sanctuary is pretty massive, featuring five expansive regions with unique terrain, enemies, and all sorts of dungeons and other loot-filled nooks. You’ll start in the Fractured Peaks region but there’s also Scosglen in the north, the Dry Steppes to the west, Kehjistan to the southwest, and southeast is Hawezar.
Diablo 4 fast travel and mounts
Once you’ve completed the prologue and made it to Kyovashad, Sanctuary is your oyster and you explore. However, you need to make sure you visit Waypoints, which are usually found in towns, to help with Diablo 4 fast travel. There are also a few ways to rapidly exit a dungeon to save you the hassle of walking back out, so make sure you know how to leave a Diablo 4 dungeon too.
Rideable mounts are available in this game, so it’s good to know how to get a Diablo 4 horse to help you get around. Although do note that you won’t be able to get a mount right away so you’ll be stuck trudging around on foot for quite a few hours.
Diablo 4 healing potions
While dungeon-delving, make sure you keep yourself healthy with Diablo 4 healing potions. You can upgrade their healing potential and increase the number you can hold at once through various means.
Diablo 4 gear, repairs, and customization
Diablo 4 is all about killing horrific foes to get sweet loot – armor, weapons, amulets, rings, Aspects, and more. There’s also a lot you can do with gear aside from just wearing and using it, and you’ll be constantly switching it all out as you collect superior stuff. You can sell gear for gold, but it’s also important to salvage Diablo 4 gear for crafting materials.
By salvaging, you can also unlock Diablo 4 transmog options to customize your character’s outfit. For an added cosmetic touch, you can also select a title in Diablo 4 which can be seen by other players. However, it’s also important to ensure your gear is in peak condition and well as being beautiful, so make sure you know how to repair Diablo 4 gear and restore its durability.
Diablo 4 quests and collectibles
There are loads of quests, side quests, and collectible items to find across Sanctuary in Diablo 4. Sometimes these quests include battling bosses, fetching items, or solving some sort of puzzle – quite a lot of these puzzles involve performing emotes, so it’s good to know how to use emotes in Diablo 4. Be sure to use your Diablo 4 quest log to stay on top of all your tasks, but if you need help seeking out collectibles or completing any quests, the guides below may be able to help:
- Diablo 4 Rite of Passage is one of the earlier quests in Diablo 4 and marks the end of the prologue and the start of Act I. It presents you with an inconsequential choice, but our guide will clear up exactly what’s going on here.
- The Diablo 4 Secret of the Spring side quest isn’t especially clear, so we’ve got a guide on how to complete it.
- If you’ve got far enough in the Dry Steppes, you might be stuck on the Diablo 4 Reject the Mother side quest, but all you need to do is perform an emote.
- Similar to the above side quests, the Diablo 4 Keeping the Old Traditions solution also involves breaking out the right emote.
- Diablo 4 Altars of Lilith are found throughout the regions of Sanctuary, and each one provides Renown for the relevant region and a small stat buff.
- Diablo 4 Whispering Keys are used to open Silent Chests that can be found randomly out in the world.
- Diablo 4 Faded Plaques have somewhat cryptic messages on them that require you to perform a specific emote.
Diablo 4 resources and currencies
Diablo 4 offers plenty in the way of loot that’s not just gear: crafting materials, currencies to spend, upgrade materials, and more. Here’s a list of some high-demand items that we’ve written guides for, explaining how you can get these desirable resources:
- Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols – a special currency spent at Purveyors of Curiosities for randomized gear drops.
- Diablo 4 Crushed Beast Bones – a crafting material that’s annoyingly hard to come by but is essential for a healing potion upgrade.
- Diablo 4 Baleful Fragments – Gather up Baleful Fragments and use them to upgrade Legendary weaponry.
- Diablo 4 Abstruse Sigils – You’ll need this rare material to upgrade Legendary jewelry.
- Diablo 4 Fiend Rose – collect these roses in Helltide areas of Sanctuary.
Diablo 4 bosses
As well as hordes of monstrous foes, you’ll also come up against horrific demon warriors and towering creatures in boss fights. Here are some that you might face in your adventures:
- The Diablo 4 Den Mother boss can be found at the end of the Light’s Watch dungeon and is quite a tough one to beat.
- Diablo 4 Ashava is one of the game’s world bosses, but this horrible, scaly beast is only available at certain times.
Diablo 4 Multiplayer and PvP
If you’re not a fan of dungeon crawling solo, you can always get up to three other friends to join in online co-op play. Your friends can even be on different platforms as Diablo 4 crossplay allows you to all play together, so long as you have linked Battle.net accounts. Although if fighting other players is more your style, there’s also a dedicated Diablo 4 PvP area.
Diablo 4 error codes
If you’re receiving any Diablo 4 error codes, you might be having some connection issues, or there are problems on Blizzard’s end. Look at our full error codes guide to see if there’s a solution to the problem you’re having.
Diablo 4 Battle Pass
Diablo 4 has embraced the live service model and even has its own Diablo 4 battle pass with exclusive rewards – there’ll be quests and even Legendary items! Read our guide to get caught up on the essentials.
