Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location, March 10 - 12. Truth!
Xur, Destiny’s travelling weekend Exotic trader, deceptively versatile anime voice-actor, and owner of the world’s busiest Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors fan-site, is back. This week he’s in the Reef, playing the old ‘No really, there’s a force-field down there’ prank on new Guardians near the central pits. As for what he’s selling when he’s not making a rambunctious great nuisance of himself, well that’ll be this:
• Empyrean Bellicose (Exotic Titan helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
• Knucklehead Radar (Exotic Hunter helmet) – 13SC
• Nothing Manacles (Exotic Warlock gauntlets) – 13SC
• Truth (Exotic srocket launcher) – 23SC
• Legacy Engram (Chest Armour engram) – 31 Strange Coins
• Exotic Shard - 7SC
• Three of Coins – 7SC
• Glass Needle – 3SC
What’s good? The Titans’ Empyrean Bellicose is a fun, if gimmicky, Exotic, allowing you to temporarily float in mid-air by aiming in the middle of a jump. Occasionally handy in the Crucible, if you use it sparingly to surprise people – hang in the air for too long, in plain view, and you are going to get shot down fast - but otherwise cooler than it is actually useful.
The Hunters’ Knucklehead Radar is good, but again, more of a Crucible Exotic, given that it grants active radar while aiming down the sights of any Primary weapon. With a choice of two bonus Super energy perks, and extra grenade energy on orb pick-up, it’s a decent utility all-rounder as well. The Warlocks’ Nothing Manacles though, are alas a bit pump, simply adding tracking to Scatter Grenades, and giving an extra Scatter charge. Which basically makes them an Exotic that’s only useful when using a particular grenade type of a particular sub-class. Which, er, limits their value unless you really, really like Scatter Grenades.
But on the better, cooler, explodier end of things, Truth is a heck of a rocket launcher if you’re into convenient, wanton carnage. With tracking rockets, auto-detonating shells (that burst early based on target proximity), near maximum blast-radius, and really quick reload for a launcher, it’s a highly convincing ‘kill everything’ option, should you prefer something a bit more involving than the almost entirely automated nature of the Iron Gjallarhorn. Though a word of warning. That combination of target tracking and auto-detonation will somewhat diminish your ability to rocket-snipe over long distances. If you like threading the incendiary needle, you’ll want something with high blast yield but manual aim.
As ever, Xur will be around until 10 am UK / 2 am PT on Sunday, at which point he’ll be gone for another week.
