Deathstroke rumoured for Suicide Squad
Another scoop arrived today concerning a comic book fan favourite expected to debut in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.
According to Latino Review - who yesterday shelled out info on the movie’s assembly of villains - another baddie scheduled to make an appearance is Deathstroke.
The onscreen version is described as a “pre-super villain” Deathstroke who works for the previously-announced special ops team Onslaught as a hired assassin.
If the rumours are true he will play a key role in two of film’s major set pieces, following what the site dubs an “insane” introduction. One will see him almost knock out the entire Squad single-handed. That’s not a huge surprise considering he’s thought to be packing a major arsenal of weapons including swords and automatic firearms.
The badass will also be kitted out in a stealthy outfit based on getups worn by genuine US military tacticians.
Closing out the report is mention of who might be in the running to tackle the part. Earlier speculation veered towards Terminator: Genisys’ Jason Clarke, but now Ayer’s Sabotage star Joe Manganiello is apparently the studio’s favourite.
Whoever nabs the part will be co-starring alongside a star-studded cast that includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
