Dead or Alive 5 will include tag team battles, cuts DoA4 lobby system
Goodbye crocodile with sombrero
At E3 2012, Tecmo Koei unleashed a big new announcement about its upcoming fighting game Dead or Alive 5. In addition to normal single-player matches, players will also be able to battle tag team as well, adding a new layer of competition to the series.
They also noted that in this installment of the DoA series they will be doing away with the online lobby system introduced in Dead or Alive 4. The system allowed several people to join a single game in a winner-stays fighting system. Whoever won would continue fighting while the losers took turns trying to take them down, observing the match from a lobby.
It also included a literal lobby of sorts where players could jump and run around a small room with a giant monitor displaying the battle. Tecmo told Joystiq that the move was made to ensure the best online experience possible. We're honestly not sure if we'll miss it. Adorable avatars were great, but waiting your turn to fight was awful.
