Dead or Alive 5 release date revealed

While all the E3 announcements are coming at you at the rate of about 30 announcements per hour, we noticed that Tecmo-Koei has also announced that we'll be seeing Dead or Alive 5 on store shelves on September 25, 2012.

The latest in the long-running franchise, Dead or Alive 5 looks to be relatively similar to the popular Dead or Alive 4. Namely, Tecmo has said that the counter system from the last game will be returning in the fifth iteration. The system is well-known among fighting fans for how easy it made countering, often leading to tense battles which included multi-layered counters (which is to say: a counter of a counter of a counter of an attack.)

TK also announced two new fighters who will be joining into the mix: Tekken's Sarah Bryant and Virtua Fighter 5's Akira. Stay tuned for more on Dead or Alive 5 as E3 progresses.
