DC is getting ready for a summer of frights and horror with the publisher’s full July 2023 solicitations which replace nearly the entire DC comic line with tie-ins to its upcoming Knight Terrors event.
Roping in everyone from Batman, to the Joker, to Superman, and every other Justice League hero and many of the most prominent villains you can think of, Knight Terrors brings a horror movie feel to DC by sending all those top heroes and villains into nightmare realms that embody their own worst fears.
But Knight Terrors isn't all DC has planned for July. Writer Mark Waid is also launching a pair of new titles, one of which ties in directly to Waid and artist Dan Mora's hit series Batman/Superman: World's Finest, titled World's Finest: Teen Titans.
Written by Waid with art from Emanuela Lupacchino, World's Finest: Teen Titans focuses on the early years of DC's most famous teen team, before their relaunch as the New Teen Titans, with an emphasis on the interpersonal dynamics of the team.
Then there's Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor, an out of continuity DC Black Label title from Waid and artist Bryan Hitch in which Lex Luthor finds himself with an incurable disease, and is forced to turn to Superman for help.
And speaking of Superman, Metropolis also gets a new hero starting in July with the debut of Hawkgirl #1 by writer Jadzia Axelrod and artist Amancay Nahuelpan in which Kendra Saunders moves to Metropolis to find some new footing.

Upcoming DC Comics July 2023: Spotlight
It's all about Knight Terrors in DC's July solicitations. The new event - which sees the heroes and villains of the DC universe forced to confront their very worst fears - is bringing some gnarly horror-themed art to comic racks and apps, and I am here for it. Everyone from Angel Breaker to Zatanna is getting involved in the event. I especially can't wait to read the Joker's book, which sees the Clown Prince of Crime forced to work a mundane office job.
Elsewhere, I'll be looking out for the Sandman Universe special, which this time concentrates on Thessaly from Gaiman's classic A Game of You, and for the new Batman Beyond mini-series, Neo-Gothic.
Finally, and about as as far away from Knight Terrors and Batman Beyond as it's possible to get, look out for Wayne Family Adventures. If you're after a superhero comic that focuses on characters having fun and dealing with everyday situations rather than intense end of the world threats, then this collection of webcomics is the book for you.
