Day Z to become standalone product
A new day for Day Z
According to a post on theofficial Day Z Tumblr, the creator of the game is planning to work with the developers of ARMA 2 to develop the smash hit mod Day Z into a standalone product.
“Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so," creator Dean "Rocket" Hall wrote in a post on the site. "The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price."
The game wont be developed by a lone wolf developer this time though. Hall will be serving as project lead on a Day Z team at Bohemia Interactive who will also be publishing the game. We're positively giddy about the thought of what this guy will be able to do with a full team of professional developers at his disposal.
Day Z recently made headlines by hitting the impressive one million player landmark, and expanding at a ridiculous fast pace. They've added more than 500,000 players in the past month alone.
