David Jaffe backed Kickstarter MotorGun cancelled

Pixelbionic has cancelled its Kickstarter campaign for MotorGun, a post-apocalyptic team-based car combat game on which God of War creator David Jaffe and Interstate '76 creator Zack Norman were serving as creative advisors. The game had been targeted for release on PC, Mac and PS4 next October, but the campaign was axed eight days into its planned month-long run after generating less than a tenth of its $650,000 funding goal.

In an interview featured on a recent episode of RadioRadar, Jaffe told us Pixelbionic had assembled “the dream team of vehicle combat developers” for MotorGun. Despite admitting defeat on this occasion, Pixelbionic said it intends to go back to the drawing board, change the game and launch another Kickstarter campaign with a fresh pitch.

“Kickstarter is a harsh mistress,” the studio said. “Lots of projects are pitched to the community and sometimes they resonate and sometimes they don’t. In this case, what we were pitching wasn’t exactly what you guys wanted. So, as a result we’re making the tough decision to not drag it out, and we’re going to cancel the campaign and start working to reformulate it.

“We are profoundly grateful to our fans. You guys are why Kickstarter works so well and when you spoke we listened and we learned. We made changes and the numbers went up, but not enough. We’re going to change our pitch and change the game, so keep talking, we’re still listening!”
