A new trailer for Doctor Who series seven will debut at 8pm next Thursday (2 August), while a debut trailer for Merlin series five will air at 8pm the day after (3 August). Both will be repeated a week later
They are part of a larger campaign taking place throughout the 17 days of the London Olympics coverage on the BBC. Most of the trailers will be for new shows ( Hunted , The Paradise , Good Cop ) which the BBC are describing as “specially-made” and “feature length”. Whether this applies to the trailers for the returning shows as well isn’t specified in the press release, but you’d assume so. Wouldn’t you?
Another trailer of specific interest for SFX readers is the one for The Secret Of Crickley Hall , which will air on Wednesday 1 August (the trailer that is; the show is scheduled for Halloween). This is writer/directed Jo (Apparitions) Ahearne’s adaptation of the James Herbert novel.
