The Darkest Dungeon 2 Complete Your Confession contract is a bizarre form put in front of you, initially before anything is really explained. So if you want to know what to do with any of it, I can explain the Complete Your Confession options in Darkest Dungeon 2 and what you need to do.

The Darkest Dungeon 2 Complete Your Confession Contract is actually a kind of mission select screen. This is more of a roguelike than its predecessor, with a focus on long-term journeys across multiple areas to find a specific goal or boss fight. So, when you choose one of the listed options, you're committing to a specific objective for that run, specifically a final boss, a series of conditions and modifiers and so on.

The options are:

  • Denial - This is the beginner option, with only two regions (The Sprawl and Tangle), easier penalties and requirements, and The Shackles of Denial as a final boss. This confession does not require a boss trophy to enter the final Mountain region.
  • Resentment - Available from your second confession onwards, this spans three regions from the available options and requires a boss trophy to reach the Mountain. Buffs and penalties are increased, and the final boss is the Seething Sigh. Max Loathing adds a -1 to all party relationships.
  • Obsession - This is unlocked after the third confession and will see cultists buffed, as well as the mini boss, Exemplar, appearing at the Oblivion's Rampart just before the Mountain. The final boss is Ravenous Reach. Max Loathing awards a random negative quirk.
  • Cowardice - Ordainment gives enemies a chance to get crit tokens and inflict blight. Flame effects can award enemies and players Weakness tokens at high or low light levels respectively. The final boss is Body of Work. Max Loathing damages the stagecoach's armor and wheels.

Working your way through the list above increases difficultly each time, with Cowardice and Body of Work effectively the final level and boss.
