Dark Souls is now playable on Xbox One, get it free for pre-ordering Dark Souls 3

The original Dark Souls is now playable on Xbox One as part of the system's backwards-compatible library. Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb confirmed its addition to the program, along with Tekken Tag Tournament 2, in a Tweet on Wednesday.

If you have a copy of Dark Souls for Xbox 360, you should be able to pop it into your Xbox One (or download it from your games list, if it's a digital copy) and start playing. With the latest system update, you can even buy it straight from your Xbox One. Before you do, keep in mind that certain retailers will give you a free code for the original if you pre-order Dark Souls 3 on Xbox One.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
