Aldrich, Devourer of Gods
Feels pretty cool returning to Anor Londo, right? Shame the place has gone to shambles. Also there’s a terrible sorcerer here named Aldrich, Devourer of Gods. As his name implies, he can easily decimate you.
First, the good news: Aldrich leaves you plenty of opportunities to attack. The bad news is that most of his attacks can nearly (or outright) kill you with heavy magic damage. So, what will he do? Get in close, and he’ll swipe his spear at you. Roll clear, and he’ll fall to the ground, just begging to take a few hits from your weapon of choice. He may also raise his spear and slam it into the ground, unleashing a cloud of purple magic. Back off during this time, and he’ll teleport to another part of the room right after the attack.
At a distance, things are much trickier. Aldrich can cast a group of magic darts that slowly seek you out, or he may parade around the room, unleashing a hail of faster-moving darts. In both cases, you can avoid the magic by standing behind the pillars (even after they’ve broken), but the wiser move is to dodge through the spell. But the deadliest of Aldrich’s moves occurs when he draws his bow – be ready to run. Aldrich will unleash a downpour of arrows that move in a steady stream toward you. Start sprinting away, and don’t stop until the arrows do; otherwise, this move can easily kill you in an instant.
Once Aldrich has about 75% HP remaining, he’ll buff his spear with fire abilities. He gains one new attack: a swipe that sends a large Soul Arrow at you at high speed. You’ll have to roll to avoid that one. His other attacks remain largely the same, but with new modifications. His spear swipe does additional fire damage, and he will leave flames along the ground when he collapses after the swipe. The bigger thing to worry about is the arrow rain: it lasts a lot longer in this phase, so hold down that sprint button.
Aldrich is a devourer for a reason. Stay on your toes, remember to run far away if things get too hot, and use his pauses against him – and you just might come out of this one alive.
