Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
This first-person spell-slinger raises the bar with multiplayer
First-person fantasy role-players may think that they have everything that they need to make it through the long summer with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. But Oblivion is so engrossing that we've already burned through even that mountain of content, and have no multiplayer to extend our gameplay. Worry not; there is a fireball-hurling, swashbuckling savior on the way. Just in time for summer, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic promises to be the second coming of first-person fantasy adventure on the PC.
Dark Messiah's online 16 vs 16 conquest mode may remind players of Battlefield 1942 and rightly so, since one of the key Battlefield designers is taking charge of Dark Messiah's multiplayer component. This sorcery-slammed battle will enable players to level their abilities over the course of a five-round online campaign.
Further distancing itself from "me too" comparisons to Oblivion, Dark Messiah's realistic physical world promises to be a key component of gameplay and combat, rather than a seldom-seen gimmick in Elder Scrolls IV. These early images are full of precarious heights, heavy hitting spells and tossable objects (including people). Look out below: Dark Messiah of Might and Magic lands in early June.
