Dark Envoy is a unique RPG that seamlessly blends dynamic combat and diverse tactical options

Dark Envoy has many talents. It's an RPG with tactical RTS elements. It offers a modern slant on some of the role-playing genre's most familiar and understood mechanics. It boasts over a dozen unique classes and specialisations, a skill-based combat system, and can be enjoyed by single players, or in multiplayer via its full-story online co-op mode for you and a buddy.

Dark Envoy is due in 2023, but it already looks stunning in motion. But you don't need to take our word on that one. Have a look for yourself:

Billed by developer Event Horizon as a 'Guns N' Sorcery' RPG adventure, Dark Envoy will appeal to genre aficionados and newcomers alike – built on a rich and layered non-linear narrative, leveraging tactical, party-based combat with dynamic gameplay that'll keep you on your toes from start to finish. As a modern interpretation of some of the role-playing genre's biggest hitters over the years, Dark Envoy is a masterful mix of old and new, boasting a catalog of features that are both fresh and inspired by classic genre tropes.

It's unique in its execution, too – you'll be able to play in real time, slow down your movements on the battlefield, or even pause to take stock and regroup before calling your next orders, giving combat a more dynamic feel than more traditional turn-based games. When not fighting to survive, players will fill the shoes of Malakai and Kaela, two children of refugees who wander the expansive, multi-biome lands of Jäan in search of relics and undiscovered treasures.

As conflict looms between the technocratic Human Empire and ancient magic-wielding League of Old Races, how you position Malakai, Keala and their companions will be crucial to your survival, making your class choices, and the subclasses you'll develop – as well as perks, stats, weapons, equipment and more – all the more important.

Whether you're an old head of the RPG genre or a relative newbie, if you enjoy tinkering with complex systems that are easy to learn but difficult to master, quick decision-making in combat, experimenting with builds that determine class balance, using the terrain to your advantage, engineering ambushes, and placing traps to scupper your enemies, then Dark Envoy is for you.

Due in 2023, you can wishlist Dark Envoy now on Steam, learn more on the game's official website, and can even join forces with some of the game's battle-ready community on the official Dark Envoy Discord channel.
