Creators of Doom, No More Heroes, and Panzer Dragoon express interest in Kinect

"I have an itch to make a Kinect title for Xbox Live," said John Carmack in a recentinterview with Joystiq. But don't get your hopes up too fast - he followed it with, "I don't even know what I'd want to do yet... I can't use Kinect for our real games; there just isn't a place for our current FPSes on there."

So while it may be a while until we see a Kinect game from the man who single-handedly pushed FPS tech to its limits for the better part of the 90's, it's nice to hear a hardcore developer express interest in the project, and he's not the only one. Several high-profile Japanese firms alsoexpressed interest to Famitsu, in one ofits recent features.

“It's the way towards free gaming,” said No More Heroes developer Suda 51. “Freedom of the hands means more freedom in play... as a game designer, a revolutionary device like this makes my heart flutter,” he continued.

Suda revealed his carnival-themed action Kinect game during the Microsoft keynote at this year's TGS. At the same event, Yukio Futatsugi revealed Project Draco, which appears to be a Kinect-powered spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon, a game he directed. Futatsugi told Famitsu that Kinect has the possibility to reawaken his excitement for games.

The feature included interviews from the developers of more casual-friendly games, including Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, Dance Evolution, Sonic Free Riders, Adrenalin Misfits, and Haunt from Parappa the Rapper creator Masaya Matsura.
