Batman v Superman star Henry Cavill might sound full of himself in a recent interview with Empire where he says that "of course Superman is going to win," but Bat-fans, don't let it ruffle your capes. He's actually giving us a deeper look at the central conflict of DC's upcoming blockbuster.
"He doesn’t agree with [Batman’s] form of justice. For this farm boy, who tries to do things the right way, justice at any cost is not something he can come to terms with," Cavill said. "It’s not about one on one. Of course Superman is going to win. But it’s deeper than that. It’s more that these two great powers exist and are actually trying to achieve the same thing, but in such a different way."
In other words, to focus on who would win in a fistfight is to miss the point. That's a battle that heavily favors Cavill's character. And sure, it'll be fun to watch the two icons go toe-to-toe, but the reason why they're fighting - because they believe in two very different versions of justice - is what'll keep you in your seat when the fists aren't flying.
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25, 2016.
