If you're in Bristol on Friday 17 April, then keep an eye out for a crowd of cartoon characters who'll be hitting the city centre in aid of children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
The story behind this fundraising effort begins with the tragic death of eight-year-old Angelo Fantini, who lost his battle with cancer on 30 January this year. As a way of both saying thanks to the CLIC Sargent nurses at Bristol Children's Hospital and helping other children and families in similar situations, Angelo's family (led by his cousin Kirsty, pictured above in her Pikachu costume) is organising a fundraising afternoon inviting participants to walk around Bristol dressed as cartoon characters with sealed collection tins. So, if you have a suitable costume you'd like to wear or just want to make a donation, then make sure you're in front of TK Maxx in The Galleries Centre, Broadmead, at noon on 17 April 2009. Kirsty has also set up a Facebook group for more information, so if you want to learn more, click here .
